In his role as Chief Innovation Officer, Aidan drives innovation in Ximedica’s core markets of medical device development and consumer healthcare. With a focus on human-centered design, usability, technical innovation as well as industrial design Aidan has helped bring hundreds of products to market. Ranging from simple drug compliance aids to wearable therapeutics, home monitoring products and complex surgical systems, Aidan challenges his teams to rethink the role design plays in the success of each product. Covering topics around usability, sensor and wearable technology, and current trends in medical design and development Aidan is a sought after industry speaker and widely published author. In addition to his role at Ximedica, Aidan advises multiple startups in the healthcare space and has interests in a number of related companies. He sits on the Board of MassArt and teaches and lectures at RISD, MIT, the Harvard iLab and others. Aidan holds an undergraduate degree from Central St Martins in Product Design/Engineering and a Masters in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).
Angelo Pitassi started HealthID after his youngest son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. After seeing the lack of innovation in this space, he knew there had to be a better way! HealthID is a simple to use, mobile health manager that works with unique HealthID Bands and Cards giving users the ability to update, manage and communicate all aspects of their personal healthcare. HealthID focuses on three key areas: medication compliance, chronic disease management, and efficient communication of personal medical info in either an emergency or routine doctor visit. HealthID directly meets the needs of both the consumer and the healthcare provider by leveraging the latest technology and creating value-adding features that can reduce costs, increase outcomes/revenue and potentially save lives.
Dr Andrew Mallon founded Calista Therapeutics in 2012 based upon the discovery and development of a technology platform of peptide and protein therapeutics that modulate the cellular transport, location and activation of membrane receptors. Dr Mallon is a serial biotech entrepreneur, specializing in the identification and creation of early stage value in promising therapeutics in diseases that have high unmet clinical need. Previously Dr Mallon founded Ardane Therapeutics, Inc. (USA), and Carlton Pharmaceutics (UK). Dr Mallon is an inventor on several patents based upon his discoveries in addition to several publications. Dr Mallon has a Ph.D. from the University of Glasgow, taught and undertook research at Brown University and is a registered pharmacist.
Mark is the founder and Chief Executive of Nalari Health, a leading remote care provider, and Assistant Professor of the Practice of Health Services, Policy and Practice at the Brown University School of Public Health. Mr. Treat has extensive experience with large scale government contracting, systems integration and project management. Treat comes to Nalari Health from SAIC, an $11B, 45,000-person science, technology and professional service organization where he led the inception, sales and development of a new business practice, including the successful negotiation of over $100M in new contracts. Prior to working at SAIC, Mr. Treat led the strategy and planning practice for Commerce One, a leading internet services and online marketplace company. Mr. Treat’s experience includes working with online health information exchanges, co-founding a bioinformatics company, co-founding a cell-based screening company, working with syndromic surveillance programs and supporting the Johns Hopkins Center for Computer Based Surgical Systems. He is known for his expertise in business process management (BPM) and as vice president of the Association of Business Process Management Professionals. As vice president, he co-led the development of The Guide To The BPM Common Body of Knowledge (CBOK)™, which defines the professional standards for end-to-end business process management internationally. Mr. Treat is a graduate of Babson College.
Nick’s passion for improving healthcare for both patients and providers through mobile technology drives him in evangelizing Care Thread’s technology to customers and investors alike as he leads commercial and financial activities. Hailing from generations of physicians and nurses across both sides of his family, Nick has seen too well the communication challenges confronted by medical professionals. Prior to co-founding Care Thread, Nick spent 15 years delivering sales for leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies including Roche, Pfizer, and Gilead Sciences. He has experience selling to a wide array of institutions and has grown sales in large, multi-state regions from $1 million to over $30 million annually. In addition, he has trained hundreds of sales professionals, developed organization-wide training curricula, and helped launch multiple blockbuster antiviral drugs. Nick brings this significant business, sales, and customer development experience to Care Thread as Cofounder & President. Nick has a BA in Chemistry from Macalester College and an MBA from the Wisconsin School of Business.
