SBA - U.S. Small Business Administration - RI District Office

Over the years, the SBA has developed many small business loan and assistance programs, special outreach efforts and initiatives to aid and inform small businesses. The following describes briefly all the services and information available through the Rhode Island District Office:

  • Financial assistance for new or existing businesses through guaranteed loans made by area bank and non-bank lenders.
  • Free counseling, advice and information on starting, better operating or expanding a small business through (SCORE) Counselors to America’s Small Business.
  • Assistance to businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals through the Minority Enterprise Development Program.
  • Women’s Business Ownership Representatives are available to advise women business owners.
  • Special loan programs are available for businesses involved in international trade.
  • If you’re a veteran, you can get business counseling and information about SBA guaranteed loans.

SCORE RI

Rhode Island SCORE is one of the 364 Chapters of the national SCORE organization that operate under the auspices of the SBA. Our RI team consists of more than 39 seasoned business counselors. We are business owners, CPAs, MBAs, college professors, patent attorneys, web designers, insurance brokers marketing communications consultants and more.

We know what it takes to succeed: We have started businesses, bought businesses and sold businesses; we have hired employees and fired them; we have been landlords and tenants, and litigants in lawsuits. Our mission as volunteers is to share our cross-industry expertise to mentor the small companies of Rhode Island and surrounding region in the best practices of all facets of business management, including:

Social Enterprise Greenhouse

Social Enterprise Greenhouse creates positive social and economic impacts by supporting social entrepreneurs and enterprises with the tools and networks they need to thrive. We are a network of business and community leaders who contribute time, expertise and money to create jobs and support positive change through social enterprise.
