Med-Tech Award 2016


The Rhode Island Business Plan Competition is an annual competition sponsored by businesses, professional services firms, investors, banks, nonprofits, foundations, colleges, universities, and government agencies to foster development of start-up and early stage companies in Rhode Island. The Competition is jointly supported by private and public companies, nonprofit organizations, public agencies, universities, colleges, and foundations.


The MedMates Medical Technology Award will recognize a med-tech initiative that demonstrates work towards a solution that will have significant impact on improving and saving lives, while reducing strain on the healthcare system.

  • Entrants will be evaluated in equal parts on their vision, business model, value proposition and competitive differentiation, growth strategy, and technology.
  • Participation is open to anyone, 18 or older, who is either an entrepreneur or aspires to become one.
  • The award will be comprised of cash and in-kind support.
